Shoebox Christmas - Tamariki (Youth)

Mai Lighthouse

Shoebox Christmas is how we let our tamariki (children) know we’ve got their back.

We do this with your help by working alongside schools, pre-schools, services like Women's Refuge, and other amazing organisations that spend their time helping members of our community.

You making a difference locally, is a simple three-step process.

Tuatahi / One

Sign up and we'll match you immediately with a tamaiti (child) from this organisation.

We’ll tell you their age, gender, and - if the school or community service can provide it - something about them to make it easy for you to put together a koha (gift), they’ll love.

Tuarua / Two

You put together a koha they will love, ideally something that can fit in a shoebox, wrap it, attach the label, or copy the details onto the box (no tags please since these can break off).

Under 'Other information', you might see some things the child your matched with loves or is interested in. Not all organisations can provide this, but we do our best!

Tuatoru / Three

You drop the koha off to the delivery point shown below (often the school or community service office). The staff there will make sure it gets to the tamaiti (child) you’ve prepared it for.
